See Comfortably & Clearly
We use our eyes every day to learn new information and make genuine connections in our everyday lives. When we don’t see comfortably, we can experience eye strain, learning challenges, and memory problems. These challenges can distract us from enjoying the moments that make our lives special.
At Eye Q Optometry, we understand vision is about more than just using your eyes. Our goal with personalized vision therapy is to strengthen the connections between your eyes, eye muscles, and brain. Get in touch with us to learn more and discover if vision therapy is right for you.Book Appointment
Why Vision Therapy?
Vision therapy is ideal for those with vision challenges that can’t be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or eye surgery. This noninvasive solution involves training the eyes using specific techniques.
Vision therapy can help some people overcome visual challenges associated with:
- Amblyopia (lazy eye)
- Binocular vision problems
- Brain injury such as concussion
- Eye movement problems
- Focusing problems
- Strabismus (crossed eyes)
- Learning challenges
How Vision Therapy Works
Frequent headaches, blurry vision, double vision, and poor attention spans are all symptoms associated with challenges that can be improved with vision therapy. If you’re unsure if you or someone you know needs vision therapy, our team can help make an assessment.
After assessing the need for vision therapy, we use innovative techniques to create a fully personalized treatment plan to improve vision and help you see clearly and comfortably.
Comprehensive Functional Vision Assessments
A functional vision assessment determines how a person uses vision to perform daily tasks. We can observe which visual skills may be deficient by replicating real-life situations. These situations may include eye tracking an object, scanning an area, maintaining prolonged focus, and hand-eye coordination.
Visual Perceptual Testing
Visual perceptual testing is an evaluation that measures visual memory, visual sequential memory, visual closure, figure-ground, visual discrimination, form constancy, and other spatial related factors. After determining a baseline during an initial assessment, we can tailor treatments to suit a patient’s training needs.
Colour Field Testing
Colour field testing gives us an idea of how your brain processes colour information it receives from the eye. We can accurately determine how a person perceives differences in colour, which gives us a better understanding of whether to tune treatments toward improving colour recognition.
RightEye Ocular Motor Testing
RightEye allows us to precisely monitor how a person tracks objects so we can diagnose binocular vision disorders. Healthy binocular vision is key to perceiving things in 3 dimensions and is a crucial part of depth perception.
RightEye gives us accurate data we can use to customize treatments for developing binocular vision and improving eye tracking.
Primitive Reflex Training
With primitive reflex training, we mimic rhythmic movement to gradually develop the visual cortex in the brain. This type of training not only improves the relationship between the brain and eyes but can also help overcome behavioural challenges stemming from stress.
Working Together to Improve Vision
Our goal is to provide patients with the tools they need to achieve comfortable vision. By comprehensively assessing your needs and working directly with you, we’re with you every step of the way on your journey to improved vision.
